Here’s a list of things new members need to know to sign in to the Atons Discord server:

Log into Discord or create a new account
You will need to log into your existing Discord account or create a new one if you don’t already have one. Visit discord.com to create a new account. -
Verification Process:
After joining, please post a message in the Public channel to introduce yourself so we know who you are and can assign the correct roles to you. -
Read and Acknowledge Rules:
Review the server rules in the#welcome-and-rules channel. Your presence in this server means you accept these rules and any future changes, which may occur without notice. - Introduce Yourself:
Some servers require or encourage new members to introduce themselves in a designated channel (e.g., #introductions). Share your name, pronouns, and any other details you’d like to include. - Set Up Your Profile:
Make sure your Discord username is appropriate and aligns with club guidelines. Adding a profile picture can help others recognize you. Please use your first name and last initial or the name that you are most known by in the club. If you don’t know how to do this an administrator can do this for you. -
Server Roles:
An administrator will assign the appropriate member-level roles to your account after we have identified you. This will grant you access to specific channels based on your membership status. -
Adjust Notifications:
Customize your notification settings to suit your preferences. You can mute channels or set notifications for mentions only to avoid being overwhelmed. -
Respect Privacy:
Be mindful of others’ privacy and avoid sharing sensitive or personal information in public channels. -
Ask for Help if Needed:
If you encounter issues or need assistance, contact the server moderators or admins via direct message or in the #troubleshooting channel.
Rules:
- Respect Everyone: Treat all users with respect, just as you’d like to be treated.
- Use your name, not an online handle: We request that you use the name that we commonly know you by for our server. (Note: Server names can differ from your Discord account name.) Please use your first name and last initial. Moderators can and will change your server name if it is unclear who you are.
- Mind Your Language: Profanity is okay, but derogatory remarks towards others are not. We value diversity and respect.
- No Spamming: Avoid sending many small messages in quick succession. Keep the chat free from spam.
- NSFW Content: Share NSFW material only in the designated NSFW channel. Respect others’ preferences regarding unexpected NSFW content.
- Appropriate Names and Profile Pictures: If the admins deem it necessary, inappropriate names or pictures will need to be changed.
- No Threats: Any threats (DDoS, death, doxing, abuse, etc.) against users is strictly forbidden.
- Follow Discord Community Guidelines: Familiarize yourself with them here.
Moderation Actions: Admins and Mods may mute, kick, or ban at their discretion. If you feel mistreated, message an Admin for resolution.
Channel Guidelines: Each channel has pinned messages outlining its purpose and usage. Ask if you’re unsure!
